Week two provided several ways to go about selecting an Action Research topic and examples of possible inquiries to consider. In our reading, Dana list 9 passions that could possible provide us with an inquiry of our own. These 9 passions include: Staff and Curriculum development, Individual teacher/student, School culture/community, Leadership, Management, School Performance, Social Justice. The passions listed can be found under one of the 9 principal competency fields which of course would be a great starting point to identify a wondering or inquiry as well.
Upon selecting an Action Research topic it is suggested that the inquiry question should be specific and clear, a question that has not been answered already, free of judgemental language and should be phrased as an open ended and "doable" question. Also, it is suggested that the researcher select a topic that is practical to them and their environment thus making it more meaningful and easier to focus on.

Educational Leaders and BLOGS
Educational leaders can use blogging to share, collaborate and receive feedback on teaching experiences, philosophies, methods and ideas with fellow practioners. Blogs can be used as a communication tool between parents, students and staff and as a way to promote learning materials to a select audience. The are also a great way to open up dialogue, initiate discussion and give and get feedback.

ACTION RESEARCH and What I Know
Action Research is the study of one's own professional practice. It involves a step by step process beginning with reflection, clarification and inquiry, followed by researched formulated action plans that address the areas of concern that were identified during reflection and inquiry. Implementing the new plan into action and evaluation of the outcomes determine if the issues of concern were addressed. If findings are good then the action taking was successful. If findings still reveal concern then the Action Research process starts again.
Inquiry, another name for Action Research, allows the practitioners to take ownership in, and participate in the decision making process that effects their teaching and student learning. It allows them to develop their skills used in the Action Research process leading to professional growth. Finally, inquiry allows practitioners to collaborate with others and become a role model for learning.
