Week two provided several ways to go about selecting an Action Research topic and examples of possible inquiries to consider. In our reading, Dana list 9 passions that could possible provide us with an inquiry of our own. These 9 passions include: Staff and Curriculum development, Individual teacher/student, School culture/community, Leadership, Management, School Performance, Social Justice. The passions listed can be found under one of the 9 principal competency fields which of course would be a great starting point to identify a wondering or inquiry as well.
Upon selecting an Action Research topic it is suggested that the inquiry question should be specific and clear, a question that has not been answered already, free of judgemental language and should be phrased as an open ended and "doable" question. Also, it is suggested that the researcher select a topic that is practical to them and their environment thus making it more meaningful and easier to focus on.
